What is HDR? How useful is it?
HDR
Introduction to HDR
Full form of HDR is High Dynamic Range.
First of all we should understand what is dynamic range. When we take any photo, and some part of photo is coming under the shade and some part is under high brightness, then the captured photo will become very dull where some part is dark and some part is very bright. This means that our camera cannot capture the picture with less level of light and more level of light and the dynamic range of the camera is not wider.
Working principle of HDR
When the HDR mode is on , then our camera will take 3 photos instead of 1. Among those three photos, 1st photo will be the normal one, 2nd photo will be with over exposure or high brightness (from over exposure, the area of pic which is under shade, will be bightened), and the third one will be under exposure or low brightness (from this the area of pic which is over brightened, will become under bright) After taking these pics, the software combines all the three pics and from this, we can see the picture very clearly with proper level of light everywhere.
When to use HDR?
We can use HDR mode when we are taking any picture and there is two different light levels ,i.e very high brightness and very low brightness, then when you turn on the HDR mode then your picture will be captured with proper level of bightness. You can also use HDR mode when you want to take a landscape picture. For eg.:-
When not to use HDR?
You should not use HDR mode when you are taking any moving object's photo, because as this mode takes 3 pictures, and when object moves ,and all three photos when combined ,the result will come as blur picture.
You should not use HDR mode also when you are taking picture in low light or in night.I prefer to use night mode in that situation.
TIP:-
When you are capturing a picture with the HDR mode do not move the camera. Hold the camera still for 2 seconds for best pictures. I Hope you have undertood, what is HDR and How is it useful?
