What is Mega-pixel? How important is it?
Friends ,When we talk about any smartphone, then first of all we talk about the mega pixels that 'this phone has 8 mega-pixel camera,''this one has 13 mega pixel camera' etc. etc.
Actually, Mega pixel is the short form of million pixels.It means that one mega pixel has 1 million pixels and 1 million pixles means 10 lac pixels, that means 1 mega pixels camera has 10 lac pixels.
Now , what is pixel?:-
Inside a camera, there is a sensor called image sensor and it is situated behind lens and other components.This image sensor has arrangement of very small small pixels.
Every pixel is capable of capturing information.When we take any photo ,every pixel store the information of that light ,color ,contrast etc and when all the pixels get combined ,they form an image and finally our camera processes that image and show that to us in the gallery. We will get more detail about the captured picture if we have more pixels in our camera.
When we have large pixels in our camera sensor, and we have high quality of lens, and if we have less pixels, then also we can get perfect detailed picture like one we get from DSLR's.
DSLR's can take very good pictures as their pixel's size is large so that pixels can capture more information.
Now when we came to the mega pixels,
1 mega pixel camera has resolution of 1152 horizontal and 864 vertical pixels,i.e 1152x864.When we multiply this ,we get approx. 10 lakh. pixles means 1 million.
2 mega pixel camera has resolution of 1600 horizontal and 1200 vertical pixels,i.e 1600x1200.When we multiply this we get approx.2 million pixels means 20 lakh.
3.2 mega pixels has 2018x1536 resolution.
8 mega pixels has 3264x2448 resolution.
12 mega pixel has 4000x3000 resolution.
Notice that as the pixels are increasing the no. of pixels inside the sensor are also increasing.
